Membership

As a member of Warragul Camera Club, you will enjoy the friendship of like-minded people wanting to discover more about photography. With a mix of skills and knowledge from expert to novice, we learn from each other. Guest judges and others regularly give presentations to the club at our monthly meeting. Frequent club outings or field trips, both mid-week and weekend, provide further opportunities to explore photographic locations and techniques in the company of other members. 

Monthly Meetings

Warragul Camera Club meets at 7.30pm on the 1st Monday of each month.

Tutorials on practical aspects of photography are arranged from time to time at suitable locations or via Zoom. Additional tutorials may also be presented by members of special interest groups which give further opportunities to extend your photography. They include

• Drone Photography Group,
• Print Group,
• Post-processing Group,
• Audio-Visual Group and
• Competition Group (for National and International competitions).

Competitions in which experienced judges, usually from outside the club, evaluate submitted images and give constructive feedback are a key component of the life of the club. Active participation in these competitions enriches members’ understanding of photography and are a great way develop your skills. However, competing is not compulsory and some members find their interest and education continues through hearing others speak about their photos, noting the comments given by judges, and attending the presentations given by experienced members and external experts.

The Competition Schedule and Rules give details of monthly print and digital image (PDI) competitions. Set Subject definitions are advised in the Competition Schedule and in the monthly newsletter. Each member is allocated a Competition Number and all judging and commentary is done without revealing the name of the photographer except for those receiving awards.

Warragul Camera Club is affiliated with the Victorian Association of Photographic Societies (VAPS). As well as providing a regulatory framework for club and inter-club competitions, VAPS holds an annual convention over a weekend with nationally and internationally recognised photographers presenting workshops in their areas of expertise and practice.

As a member of the Warragul Camera Club your skills and understanding of photography will flourish and you will make new friends along the way.

Membership Fees

The regular fee for an individual member is $75 per year. There is also an individual joining fee of $15 including provision of a name badge. The membership year ends on 30^th May. New members joining from October to May pay a reduced amount depending on the month joining. There are also discounted membership fees for Pensioners, Family membership, and Student/Junior members. Applicants will be advised of the appropriate fee and bank account detail for payment on receipt of an application form.

Membership Commencement

Membership commences once an Application for Membership has been processed and the appropriate fee paid. You will receive a letter of welcome, usually by email confirming your membership and advising you of your Membership Number. You will also receive an email with login details for the club website giving access to the club Calendar, Competitions and other club resources.
